Ministry of Cultures opens call for attendance at the Liber Book Fair (Barcelona) and the Frankfurt Book Fair

Convocatoria de asistencia a las ferias del libro Liber (Barcelona) y Frankfurt 2026

Both calls, promoted by the National Council for Books and Reading to strengthen the publishing sector, will be open until 27 May.

The Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage announces the opening of the call for attendance at the Liber International Book Fair (Barcelona) and the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026, through the Fund for Books and Reading.

The aim of this call is to promote the professionalisation of the Chilean industry at the world’s most important book fairs, ensuring the presence of book professionals — publishers, literary agents and distributors, among others — at the Frankfurt and Liber international book fairs in 2026.

Following the guest-of-honour invitation to Frankfurt 2027, and with a view to strengthening the publishing sector, the National Council for Books and Reading selected these fairs as part of its international fair circuit, committing to official participation over three years: 2025, 2026 and 2027.

This year marks the start of official participation, through a public call, at the Liber International Book Fair, to be held in Barcelona.

Last October Chile was Guest of Honour at the Liber International Book Fair held in Madrid. To build on that participation, this year a delegation representing different players in the publishing sector is planned, including 6 places through this public call.

For the Frankfurt Book Fair, as last year, a call will open with a further increase in places for the 2026 delegation, which rises to 25 members. Specifically for this fair, where applications have equal scores and there are not enough places, priority will go to applicants who were not selected in either of the last two calls (2024 and 2025).

The initiative to bring new representatives of the publishing industry into the delegation adds to other initiatives the Books Secretariat is promoting as part of Chile’s guest-of-honour participation at the world’s most important book event.
