In a meeting with key actors in the book industry, the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage announced the completion of the study “Characterization of the Chilean Publishing Market 2019-2024”, as part of Chile’s preparations for its role as Guest of Honor at the 2027 Frankfurt Book Fair.
Last Wednesday, June 26, in the auditorium of the CORFO offices, a presentation was held to highlight the initiatives being undertaken by the Ministry of Culture in preparation for Chile’s participation as Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair. During the event, the completion of the study “Characterization of the Chilean Publishing Market 2019-2024” was officially announced.
Representatives from publishing houses, bookstores, distributors, trade unions, state institutions related to the book industry, and other cultural agents attended the meeting, where the details of the study conducted by Agencia Fidelia were shared. The study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Chile’s book market, focusing on the number of active titles, book circulation, publishing trends, and other data that will serve as Chile’s introduction at the prestigious German fair.
The presentation also aimed to encourage all stakeholders in the publishing sector to actively participate in surveys and data collection for the study. The resulting data will not only inform decision-making for public programs and policies but will also contribute to shaping the nation’s presentation at the international event.
Being the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair presents a unique opportunity for Chile to showcase its literature and culture through exhibitions and events. Additionally, it fosters the translation of Chilean works into other languages and promotes the country’s publishing industry on a global stage.
