Ministry of Cultures to hold a Professional Publishing Meeting at the next Furia del Libro ahead of Frankfurt 2027

Encuentro Profesional Editorial Internacional en la Furia del Libro

Marifé Boix García, Vice President of the Frankfurt Book Fair, will attend the meeting.

As part of the On the Road to Frankfurt 2027 programme, the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, in collaboration with La Furia del Libro, will hold a new International Professional Publishing Meeting during the 2026 edition of the fair.

This initiative — held for the third time as part of Chile’s preparation as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2027 — aims to strengthen the internationalisation of the Chilean publishing sector by promoting the translation, circulation and international reach of Chilean works, as well as building networks with key players in the global industry.

Eight international publishers from different countries will take part, holding professional meetings with Chilean publishers through business rounds specially designed to encourage rights exchange and publishing collaboration.

In addition, a professional meeting between the Chilean publishing and audiovisual sectors will be held to promote the adaptation of literary works into audiovisual formats and to build strategic ties between both industries, in preparation for their presence on international rights-trading platforms.

In this context, a call will open for Chilean publishers with catalogues that have internationalisation potential and an interest in taking part in these matchmaking sessions. Applications will be submitted through an online registration form, which will help identify editorial affinities and make the most of the meetings.

The programme also includes a visit to Chile by Juergen Boos, Director of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, and Marifé Boix García, Vice President of the Frankfurt Book Fair, reinforcing joint work and strategic decisions towards 2027.

This meeting is a key milestone in the “On the Road to Frankfurt” process, helping not only to open concrete internationalisation opportunities but also to strengthen the capacities of the Chilean publishing ecosystem ahead of its participation on the world’s leading book stage.
